Sustainable Tree Care & Landscaping: How We Turn Trees Into Quality Mulch

As spring approaches, it's time to start thinking about landscape maintenance, tree care, and fresh mulch to prepare for the growing season. At Artmire's Urban Forestry & Tree Services, we believe in providing expert tree services while taking a sustainable approach to caring for the environment. One way we do this is by repurposing tree materials into high-quality organic hardwood mulch, ensuring that nothing goes to waste.

What Sets Our Mulch Apart?

Unlike store-bought mulch, which may contain dyes, fillers, or synthetic additives, our hardwood organic mulch is made from locally sourced trees. As part of our tree service and removal process, we recycle tree waste into nutrient-rich mulch that supports plant health and soil quality. This means our mulch isn't just an aesthetic upgrade. It's a sustainable, eco-friendly choice for your landscape.

Here are some key benefits of using organic hardwood mulch:

  • Retains moisture to keep soil hydrated and plants healthy
  • Suppresses weeds naturally, reducing the need for herbicides
  • Regulates soil temperature, protecting roots from extreme heat or cold
  • Enriches soil as it decomposes, adding valuable organic matter
  • Provides a clean, polished look to flower beds, trees, and walkways

Expanding Our Tree Services: Now Offering Professional Landscaping

In addition to tree care and mulch, we are excited to offer professional landscaping and installation services. Whether you need a full landscape transformation, new planting beds, or seasonal clean-ups, our team is equipped to bring your outdoor vision to life. With a deep understanding of tree health, soil conditions, and sustainable landscape design, we ensure that every project enhances both beauty and functionality.

Tree Service Company That Cares About Sustainability

Choosing a tree service company isn't just about finding someone to trim or remove trees. It's about working with professionals who prioritize the long-term health of your landscape. Our approach to sustainable tree care and responsible land management allows us to support local ecosystems while offering customers a practical way to improve their outdoor spaces.

By repurposing tree waste into mulch, we help reduce landfill waste, lower carbon emissions, and provide an eco-friendly alternative to traditional landscaping materials. When you choose Artmire's Urban Forestry & Tree Services, you're investing in more than tree care. You're choosing a company that values environmental responsibility.

How to Spread Mulch the Right Way

Good mulch only helps if it goes down correctly. A few simple habits make the difference between a healthy bed and a stressed tree:

  • Spread it 2 to 4 inches deep. Thinner layers let weeds through, and thicker layers can smother roots and hold too much water.
  • Keep it off the trunk. Start a few inches back from the base so the root flare stays visible and dry.
  • Skip the volcano. Mulch piled up against the trunk traps moisture, invites pests and rot, and can encourage roots to circle the trunk.
  • Widen the ring. Cover as much of the root zone under the canopy as you reasonably can, rather than a tight circle around the trunk.
  • Top up, don't pile on. Hardwood mulch breaks down over time, so refresh the bed with a thin layer once a year instead of burying the old mulch.

Why Hardwood Mulch Works in East Texas Beds

East Texas summers are long and hot, and heavy rains can wash soil off a bare bed. A layer of organic mulch shades the soil, slows evaporation, and softens the impact of a downpour. As the wood breaks down, it feeds the soil organisms that keep roots healthy, which is why mulch is one of the simplest and most useful things you can do for a young or stressed tree.
